Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams lead the way atop the tennis odds for the final Grand Slam event of the season, the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, New York. The tournament starts August 27.
Djokovic is the defending champion in the men's draw at the U.S. Open, as he dispatched Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 in the final of the event last season. Djokovic, the +125 favorite at Sportsbook, was also runner-up to Nadal at the 2010 U.S. Open.
However, Djokovic won't have to contend with Nadal this season, as the Spaniard is nursing an injury and will skip the event. Instead, five-time U.S. Open champion Roger Federer is the second-favorite for the tournament at Sportsbook at +250.
Andy Murray, who is coming off an Olympic gold medal, is then at +300 odds as he tries to win the U.S. Open for the first time; he lost to Federer in the final back in 2008.
Juan Martin Del Potro rounds out the top contenders on the men's side of the U.S. Open draw at +750 to win the tournament. Del Potro won this event in 2009, upsetting Federer in a 3-6, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2 marathon match.
Over in the women's draw it's Serena Williams listed as the heavy -110 favorite on the odds to win the U.S. Open at Sportsbook. Williams already won Wimbledon and the Olympics this year, and she's a three-time U.S. Open champion (1999, 2002, 2008).
Maria Sharapova is then at +450 on those tennis odds as she tries for her second career U.S. Open title - the Russian topped Justine Henin in the final of this event back in 2006.
Victoria Azarenka (+600), Petra Kvitova (+1000), and Angelique Kerber (+1800) follow those top two favorites on the odds list at Sportsbook, with another three-time U.S. Open champion, Kim Clijsters, back at +2000 odds to win the tournament.
Defending U.S. Open champion Samantha Stosur - who topped Serena Williams 6-2, 6-3 in last year's final - is at +2500 odds. Venus Williams, who has won this tournament twice, is listed at +5000.
