Raonic Rallies to Make Wimbledon Quarters to Face Querrey

American Sam Querrey is coming off one of the biggest performances of his life in his upset over tournament favorite and world number-one ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic, and will have to follow that up in the Wimbledon quarterfinals against the sixth-seeded Canadian, Milos Raonic.

  • Querrey leads the head-to-head against Raonic 2-1.
  • The only time these two met at Wimbledon, Querrey won in 4-sets back in 2012.
  • Breaks will be at a premium as both men possess huge serves.

Raonic came back from the brink in his fourth round match vs David Goffin. The big Canadian went down two sets to the Belgian but rallied to win the next three sets and the match 4-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Milos is looking to get back to the semis of Wimbledon for the first time since 2014 when he lost to Federer in straight sets.

For Querrey, this marks his first ever quarterfinal match at Wimbledon as he had never before made it past the second round. His only two top eight appearances in Major tournaments both came at the US Open, in 2007 and 2015. His career winning percentage at Wimbledon is 29 per cent– Raonic’s career winning percentage at Wimbledon? 67 per cent.

In Major tournaments, Raonic is 2-2 in quarterfinals, Querrey is 1-1.

Bovada has pegged Raonic as the -300 moneyline favorite and Querrey as the +240 underdog.
