Flushing Meadows has seen the usual suspects all make it through the first round and we have now been given some glorious props to bet on. I watched the market like a hawk for a bet other than the Outright Sportsbook before the tournament began but I came up empty, empty and sad.
There looks to be a ton of value on every corner of the field here as it appears the reigning champ Novak Djokovic is dealing with an injury. He was on the brink of elimination in his Round 1 match and could be a candidate to get the early boot.
My favorites in this tournament are still Milos Raonic and Marin Cilic as they both cruised through their first-round matches. Cilic is in the same quarter as the Joker so he could benefit from a possible early retirement from Novak. The 2014 US Open Sportsbook is offering +500 odds to win his quarter right now but will become the immediate favorite if and when Djokovic is ousted from the bracket.
Raonic is the favorite to advance from his quarter and will have to face Rafael Nadal in his quarterfinal, assuming they both make it that far. Milos has been on a streak of beating the old stalwarts of the game including his semifinal Wimbledon win against Roger Federer. The fifth-seeded Canadian is really coming into his own this year and has a legitimate shot to take down his first ever major at this US Open.
