Conor McGregor will finally have his Featherweight showdown with Jose Aldo, and expect the online sportsbooks to be siding with the interim champion over the returning champion when the two fighters meet in the Octagon at UFC 194 in Las Vegas on December 12.
The title unification bout will mark Aldo's first appearance in the Octagon since UFC 179 in October 2014 when he beat Chad Mendes by unanimous decision. Aldo was then scheduled to face McGregor at UFC 189 in Las Vegas back in July, but he pulled out of that bout with a rib injury.
Back before UFC 189 it was Aldo who was listed as the -175 favorite at online sportsbook Bovada against McGregor, who was pegged as a +145 underdog. McGregor instead scored a TKO win over Mendes at UFC 189 to pick up the interim Featherweight championship.
And with Aldo's long layoff the projected lines at the online sportsbooks have tilted toward McGregor, with Bovada having him set as the -190 favorite on their UFC futures for the long-anticipated matchup. Aldo has slipped to a +155 underdog.
At 5Dimes the lines are similar, with McGregor a -175 favorite and Aldo a +155 underdog. Aldo is 25-1 in his career and hasn't lost since November 2005, and he tops the OddsShark Pound-for-Pound rankings. McGregor is 18-2 and last lost in November 2010.
