Bellator 41 Fight Card Betting

One of Bellator’s best fight cards to date will go down this weekend when the promotion moves to Yuma, Arizona for Bellator 41.

Featured on the card will be Featherweight champion Joe Warren and Bantamweight champion Zach Makovsky in non-title fights against two very good contenders.

And Bellator 41 doesn’t stop there, as there are also two Featherweight tournament semifinal fights plus a heavyweight bout involving rising star Tony Johnson.

Joe Warren’s Greco-Roman wrestling skills have made him the new Bellator Featherweight champion, but he has to wait for the results of this season’s tournament to defend that title. In the meantime the promotion has him in a non-title fight against the very talented Marcos Galvao.

This fight only exists to keep Warren active so it’s safe to say that he will come into it as a heavy favorite.

Expect Warren’s wrestling to dominate his smaller opponent for either a decision or submission win. In order for the BJJ black belt Galvao to get the upset he will have to find a way to lock in a submission of his own. That won’t be easy to do against a fighter with the ground control of Warren, but the chance does exist.

The other Bellator champion in a non-title fight this weekend is Bantamweight kingpin Zach Makovsky, who will be put to the test against the undefeated submission specialist Chad Robichaux. Makovsky is on a six-fight win streak but hasn’t fought since October as the division works out a contender.

This fight may be the best opportunity on the card for an upset payout for two reasons. First, Makovsky may have a bit of cage-rust from the layoff, and second, his only two losses came via submission at the hands of a skilled grappler.

Robichaux is a very skilled grappler with 10 submissions in 11 career fights, so it won’t take much of an underdog line for us to go with the Robichaux upset.

Two Featherweight tournament semifinal fights are also on the Bellator 41 card. Patricio Freire will look to beat Wilson Reis for the second time in a year, and Daniel Straus will put his 11-fight streak on the line against Kenny Foster. Freire and Straus will be the favorites in their fights and both should cruise to victory and the finals.

Newly added to the card is a Heavyweight fight between accomplished wrestler Tony Johnson and undefeated Carlos Flores. As in any Heavyweight fight, anything could happen between these two up-and-comers. However, betting on wrestling is the safest money in MMA, so we’ll take Johnson via decision.
