Bellator 45 Fight Card Preview

The fourth season of Bellator comes to a close on Saturday night with Bellator 45 and a main card that includes two tournament finals.

On the main card of the Bellator 45 odds menu are the tournament finals from the Featherweight and Light Heavyweight divisions.

First the Featherweight bout, where Patricio Freire will take on Daniel Straus. This will be Freire's second shot at the Featherweight tournament final. He reached the final in Season 2 but lost to Joe Warren, the reigning Bellator Featherweight champion.

Freire's journey to the final took him through George Karakhanyan in the quarterfinals and Wilson Reis in the semifinals. He defeated Karakhanyan by TKO and won by KO against Reis, ending both fights in the third round. After his semifinal win Freire is a lifetime 16-1 with six wins by KO and seven by submission.

Straus heads into the tourney final on a 12-fight winning streak. In the tournament so far he has defeated Nazareno Malegarie by unanimous decision in the quarters and Kenny Foster by submission with a guillotine choke in the semis. He is a lifetime 16-3 with three wins by KO and four by submission.

At Sportsbook Freire is the favorite in the bout on the MMA odds at -185. Straus is a +155 underdog and will likely need a surprise knockout or submission to upset Freire.

In the Light Heavyweight tournament final Richard Hale will face Christian M'Pumbu. Not only will the Sportsbook of this bout win the tournament, but he will also be declared the inaugural Bellator Light Heavyweight champion.

Hale's run through the tournament has not been without some controversy. He easily won his quarterfinal matchup with Nik Fekete by submission with an inverted triangle choke, but in the semis he won by a narrow split decision over D.J. Linderman in a bout some thought should have gone the other way. Hale is 17-3-1 lifetime with six wins by KO and eight by submission.

M'Pumbu left no doubt that he deserves to be in the final. He defeated both his opponents by TKO, roughing up Chris Davis in the quarters and breezing past Tim Carpenter in the semis with a first-round TKO.

M'Pumbu may have delivered a more impressive win than Hale in the semis, but on the MMA odds at Sportsbook Hale is the favorite in the title bout at -140. M'Pumbu is a +110 underdog.
