Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino enters the Octagon after a 10-month layoff when she takes on Tonya Evinger at UFC 214. Cyborg is undeniably the most dominant female fighter in MMA today, as she has not lost since her professional debut in 2005. However, Evinger is a tough-as-nails grinder who is riding an 11-fight undefeated streak.
Cyborg sees herself open as a hefty -1100 favorite with “Triple Threat” coming back at +650 at online book Sportsbook. That may sound absurd to some bettors but Cyborg has not closed as anything under -1000 since her fight with Gina Carano in 2009.
Cyborg combines a natural aggression and power with technically beautiful Muay Thai to overwhelm her opponents in the striking game. There are few fighters in the world who have the innate finishing ability and aggression that she has. Though people think wrestling is the best course of action, Cyborg has strength and balance to avoid takedown attempts.
Evinger has some decent power in her hands but has not shown much technical prowess in the striking game. When she can get hold of her opponent, Evinger is suffocating and constantly working. On the mat, “Triple Threat” aggressively throws strikes and looks for a finish.
- Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino -1100
- Tonya Evinger +650
