Kara-France vs Albazi Preview: Who Will Win?

Could this fight determine the next 125-pound title contender?

How Albazi Wins

"The Prince" is a tank with a strong Octagon presence. He's confident with his jab and never rushes into combat; instead, Albazi waits and peppers opponents with that fierce uppercut that scored him a third-round KO in his last fight vs Alessandro Costa. On the feet, the 29-year-old is quite sturdy, though KKF is still a more potent striker.

With that in mind, watch for Albazi to introduce a level change. He's quite good on the ground and has a knack for gliding around opponents and taking their back. Kara-France has one submission loss on his resume (a bonkers fight vs Brandon Royval), which came as the product of some wild knockdowns, then a scramble and a guillotine choke. Chaos favors Albazi. If he gets the New Zealander scrambling, there will be opportunities to attack.

How Kara-France Wins

"Don't Blink" is a polished kickboxer with fast hands and a diverse offensive strategy. If this bout turns into a speed contest, Kara-France will win. He's been in the cage with way better opponents than Albazi and will be able to think and adapt. Once Albazi turns up the heat with takedowns and pressure, that's where Kara-France's fate will be decided. He staggered through some adversity in his recent fights vs Rogerio Bontorin and Askar Askarov before ultimately popping back to his feet and throwing hands.

As I said before, if this fight gets sloppy, Albazi will get more chances to win. In a 25-minute punch-athon, however, I'll back the Kiwi.

Kara-France vs Albazi Pick

I'm very, very excited for this rumble, in part because there are some undeniable trends within the flyweight division. Betting on flyweight UNDERs has been a goldmine this year, and with the smaller Apex cage in play, too, I'm wagering on a finish.

My bet is for Kara-France to win (-110) and for this bout to finish inside the distance (-140).

Pick: Kara-France to win (-110); fight ends inside the distance (-140)
