Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series wraps up its second season with former NFL player Greg Hardy going toe to toe with Tebaris Gordon in the main event. Hardy was handed a developmental contract in the first episode in DWTNCS season 2 and opens as a -600 favorite in this bout with Gordon coming back at +400.

Breaking down Hardy vs Gordon

Hardy (-600) is still relatively unknown when it comes to MMA as his four fights (three amateur bouts) have lasted a total of three minutes 19 seconds – an average of just 49.75 seconds per fight. As expected by a heavyweight, all of these fights ended in a TKO, and all in the favor of Hardy. The first episode in season 2 of DWTNCS was Hardy’s first pro fight when he clashed with fellow former NFLer Austen Lane. Just as he did in the previous three fights, Hardy displayed his vicious power en route to a 57-second TKO win and a developmental contract from UFC president Dana White.

Gordon (+400) puts his undefeated 3-0 professional record on the line as he looks to stop the Hardy hype train. Unlike Hardy, “Boom” has fought outside of the first round, having earned a TKO victory in each of the three rounds over his three-fight career. Gordon headlined Warfare FC 17 in December, ending Marvin Skipper’s four-fight undefeated streak with a second-round TKO. The North Carolina native is patient with solid wrestling defense, always looking to keep the fight standing and seeking the knockout.

Hardy still looked raw in his first pro fight against Austen Lane so it’ll be interesting to see how much he has learned over the seven weeks since his last fight. No doubt about it, he has legit scary knockout power, but if he swings wildly with no setup, he could find himself in a bad way. Gordon has the edge in experience and will enter the Octagon as the smaller man, likely weighing in 30 pounds lighter than Hardy and giving up four inches in height. I don’t expect to see any wrestling in this scrap and I wouldn’t go grab a snack while this fight is on – before you know it, it’ll be over.

Prediction: Greg Hardy (-600) via knockout
