Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Cormier UFC Betting Odds

In what has the makings of the biggest heavyweight fight in the sport’s history, newly minted UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is a -275 favorite over Brock Lesnar, who comes back at +215. Following Cormier’s historic win at UFC 226 over Stipe Miocic, a confrontation with Lesnar took place that the WWE probably couldn’t have scripted any better, setting the stage for a big-money fight.

Rumors of Lesnar’s return to the UFC had been swirling in the months leading up to the sports entertainment-like promo with Cormier and it looks as if a showdown between the two will be Cormier’s first defense of the heavyweight title.

When will Lesnar and Cormier fight?

Making this fight isn’t as simple as the UFC and fight fans would like as Lesnar still has six months to serve as part of a USADA suspension, meaning he can’t compete in the Octagon until January at the earliest, unless the UFC can find a way around the red tape. The suspension stems from testing positive for an estrogen blocker called clomiphene that was in his system for his most recent fight at UFC 200 vs Mark Hunt. Lesnar is now in the process to re-enter USADA’s drug testing pool which is a requirement for fighting in the UFC.

It should also be noted that Cormier appeared to injure his right hand in the Miocic fight, which could also delay the fight, depending on the severity of the injury. Either way, the UFC will want lots of time to promote the fight, so at least for now, it doesn’t seem as if either situation will be a major roadblock in making the fight a reality.

Who will win between Lesnar and Cormier?

Besides having a substantial size advantage that was on display during their scuffle at UFC 226, that would appear to be the only edge Lesner has on Cormier, which makes Cormier’s line of -225 a bargain. Cormier has proven himself to be one of the most well-rounded fighters in MMA and remains undefeated as a heavyweight. He’ll likely want to keep the fight standing up where he’d use his chronically underrated striking to chip away at and potentially finish Lesnar.

Considering Lesnar’s two-year absence from the sport, his tainted performance at UFC 200 and a number of beatings that he took against elite competition in the UFC, the smart money definitely won’t be on Lesnar. However, there’s no denying this man is an absolute animal and if he can manage to get Cormier on his back, he’ll have a great shot at upsetting the champion.
