UFC 218: Holloway vs Aldo II Betting Odds

Max Holloway will look to defend his undisputed UFC featherweight championship for the first time when he welcomes a familiar foe to the Octagon. Holloway will take on Jose Aldo – the man he defeated to unify the featherweight belts – at UFC 218 on December 2.

Holloway finds himself as a sizable -305 betting favorite after finishing Aldo in the third round when they last met at UFC 212, while the challenger comes back at +230. This is a drastic change from the betting line for their first bout, as Holloway closed as a +135 underdog.

Holloway is riding an 11-fight winning streak – in one of the most talent-laden divisions in the UFC – with eight of those coming via stoppage. The Hawaiian possesses incredible footwork that allows him to cut angles and be aggressive in the standup game. Holloway will generally want to pressure his opponent against the cage and unleash big combos. His defensive wrestling is elite, with no opponent taking him down in his past eight fights.

Aldo is a technical striker on the feet who tends to stick to advanced basics. This is not a knock against the Brazilian, as his style is fluid and heavy on counter-striking. He has an excellent jab and some of the most lethal leg kicks in MMA today. Aldo can grapple as well, as he holds a black belt in BJJ, though he traditionally uses his wrestling defensively to keep a fight standing.
