Lyoto Machida 30-8 vs. Quinton Jackson 16-1
Lyoto Machida is a -260 favorite for a reason. He hasn’t been lolly gagging around Hollywood for the past year. He’s been in the ring training and defending his Light Heavyweight title which he only recently lost in May to Mauricio Rua. You know he wants it back and deserves another title shot. I think he’ll get one after he destroys Rampage’s Octagon career in this fight. Quinton made a pretty B.A. Baracus in The A-Team Movie. He used to be a better fighter than actor, he know seems a little less committed than these other guys to put it nicely. He’s already made it huge as a fighter and now wants the celebrity life. Does he deserve another chance in the ring? Absolutely, but if he comes out soft Machida will tear him apart in every aspect.
Matt Hughes 45-7 vs. BJ Penn 15-7-1
For his third fight in a row, BJ Penn will be the odds on favorite. He’s had 2 losses in the last 3 fights so, Penn knows how important this fight is with Matt Hughes. This will be the 3rd time Hughes faces Penn over their career. Hughes won the second fight between these two and figures to win the rubber match as well. Of course he figures he’ll win he’s an ego maniac and his record is 45-7. I still give the edge to Penn because I simply like him better IMHO. This is one of those classic match-ups that make the UFC worth watching.
