UFC 132 Betting Preview

A Bantamweight title fight headlines the main MMA betting card this weekend when the UFC returns to pay-per-view with UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber.

In the main event UFC Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz takes on challenger Urijah Faber. Cruz may be the champ but he's not a big favorite in the bout on the UFC 132 odds at Bovada at -130. Faber is an even-money underdog.

Cruz heads into the bout on an eight-fight winning streak which includes two successful title defenses. Cruz last fought at WEC 53 in December where he defeated Scott Jorgensen by unanimous decision. In his MMA career Cruz is 17-1 with six wins by knockout.

Faber has won his last two fights, but has an uninspiring 4-3 record in his last seven fights. He last fought at UFC 128 in March where he defeated Eddie Wineland by unanimous decision. Faber is a career 25-4 with seven wins by KO and 13 by submission. [ More UFC 132 betting preview action ]

This UFC championship is actually a rematch of a fight from four years ago. Cruz and Faber clashed at WEC 26 in March 2007 in a Featherweight championship bout. Faber was the reigning champ in that bout and successfully defended his title with a win by submission after locking Cruz in a guillotine choke.

Also on the main event card at UFC 132, a pair of UFC veterans return to the Octagon.

First up is Wanderlei Silva in a Middleweight bout against Chris Leben. Silva will be making his Middleweight debut in his first fight since February 2010. Silva's has been out of the game so long because he had knee surgery last July. In his last fight at UFC 110 he defeated Michael Bisping by unanimous decision, but that was only his second win in his last seven fights.

Silva's overall MMA record stands at 33-10-1 with one no-contest with 23 wins by KO.

Leben last fought at UFC 125 in January where he lost to Brian Stann by TKO in the first round. After that defeat Leben is 3-3 in his last six fights, and overall he is 25-7 with 13 wins by KO. He's a +155 underdog in the bout on the UFC odds at Bovada, while Silva is a -185 favorite.

The other noteworthy UFC veteran on the UFC 132 fight card is Tito Ortiz. He'll face Ryan Bader in a Light Heavyweight bout.

Ortiz last fought at UFC 121 in October where he lost to Matt Hamill by unanimous decision. In his last five fights Ortiz is 0-4-1 and he hasn't recorded a win in the Octagon since October 2006. That's one of the major reasons he is a +300 underdog in the fight at Bovada.

Bader is coming off the first loss of his MMA career. He faced Jon Jones at UFC 126 in February and lost by submission. That loss dropped him to 12-1 with five wins by KO. The oddsmakers expect Bader to bounce back with a win over Ortiz after listing him as a -500 favorite.
