UFC 140: Jones vs Machida Odds

Jon Jones brings an aura of invincibility to the Octagon that has made him a huge UFC 140 favorite to retain his light heavyweight belt against challenger Lyota Machida.

The fight headlines the event at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre on December 10 on a card featuring six Canadians. And he is fighting the former light heavyweight champ, who knows a thing or two about seeming unbeatable.

The Dragon was 8-0 when he arrived in the UFC and won his first eight fights, many in devastating fashion. He took out Tito Ortiz, Rashad Evans, Mauricio Rua, and Thiago Silva.

But he is a whopping +360 underdog on the UFC 140 odds menu at shops such as Bovada against Jones, whose reach, wrestling skills, and arsenal of strikes has been unstoppable.

While Machida is 17-2, two of his losses have come in the past three fights, with the front-kick KO of Randy Couture in The Natural’s final fight the lone victory. Jones is 14-1 with the lone loss a DQ against Matt Hamill for an illegal elbow, and he has finished 12 of his 14 wins.

Even at -455, many are flocking to bet on Jon Jones as UFC 140 approaches.

It’s not the only big scrap on the card as the famed Nogueira brothers both fight on the PPV portion of the card. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, known as Minotauro, fights former heavyweight champ Frank Mir as a +210 underdog.

Brother Minotoro faces Tito Ortiz in a light heavyweight tilt where Ortiz is a +175 underdog.

The Canadian portion of the show includes two scraps on the main card with 14-1 Claude Patrick facing Brian Ebersole. The veteran Ebersole, an Aussie, is -140 at 5Dimes and riding a 9-fight win streak. Patrick is a +120 dog and on a 12-fight win streak.

Former featherweight top contender Mark Hominick is also on the card as a huge -475 favorite (at 5Dimes which offers round by round betting) against Chan Sung Jung.

The rest of the card will see odds posted shortly and should offer great MMA wagering value.
