UFC 198: Silva vs Hall Betting Odds

Anderson Silva UFC

*Anderson Silva has been removed from the fight after learning that he requires a surgery. The UFC said in a statement that they will attempt to find a new opponent for Uriah Hall*

The last man Anderson Silva beat inside the Octagon was Stephan Bonnar. That was five fights and three and a half years ago. Since his last victory, the Spider suffered a gruesome broken leg in a title fight against Chris Weidman and went through an embarrassing ordeal after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.

After a razor-thin decision loss to Micahel Bisping in February, Silva will try to get his career back on track at UFC 198 in his home country of Brazil against another dynamic striker, Uriah Hall. Online sportsbook Bovada has Silva as a -140 favorite with Hall coming back at +110.

The smallest favorite Silva has ever closed at in his UFC career was -165 against Dan Henderson way back at UFC 77, so if there’s not much movement in the odds for this fight, it’ll be the smallest favorite he’s closed at as a UFC fighter.

Hall has had an up-and-down run in the UFC. He’s gone 2-2 over his last four fights, and hasn’t lived up to the hype he created during his destruction of opponents competing on season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter.

Hall has been unable to display the killer instinct that’s needed to excel in the UFC, which could be his undoing against Silva, who is by far the most high profile opponent he’s ever faced. Silva has lost just once in 10 professional MMA fights in Brazil and has won seven straight in his native country.
