Conor McGregor cemented himself in history after winning the UFC lightweight gold at UFC 205, becoming the first fighter in the company’s history to hold two belts simultaneously. In MMA news, the biggest star in the UFC today has said he will take some time away from the cage with his girlfriend expecting the birth of his first child, but that has not stopped the speculation about who ‘The Notorious One’ will face next.

That, of course, means books have posted odds about who McGregor will face next.

Topping the board would be a trilogy bout with Nate Diaz (+200). We all know about how the first two fights between Diaz and McGregor went down, with the Stockton native surviving the early flurry in the first fight to hand the Irishman his first loss in the UFC. The second fight was a war that saw McGregor win a decision victory.

There is no doubt that McGregor vs Diaz III is likely the biggest money-maker for the UFC. The series is tied at one win apiece, and now both guys would be fighting at their more natural 155 lbs instead of 170 like the first two bouts. Add in the fact that it can be for the gold, and this fight would make an absurd amount of money.

Next on the board is current lightweight contender Tony Ferguson. ‘El Cucuy’ would offer an intriguing standup battle for McGregor, as Ferguson is powerful and long in the striking game. He is technically strong and also aggressive, which could give McGregor fits — assuming Ferguson can withstand McGregor’s power. Again, this would be another bout for the 155 lbs title and there is no doubt that Ferguson should be able to help sell this on the mic.

Third on the board is McGregor and Woodley, who have been butting heads ever since the events leading into UFC 205, reaching its apex when the UFC needed to take Woodley’s belt so McGregor would have two for photo ops after his win. McGregor proved that he is able to compete at welterweight and could theoretically be gunning to become the first UFC fighter ever to hold belts in three different weight divisions.

For featherweight fans out there, Jose Aldo is currently at +650. Aldo was awarded the undisputed featherweight championship after McGregor had not defended the belt — Aldo previously held the interim strap. Everyone remembers McGregor’s 13-second victory over Aldo to win the featherweight belt, but the Brazilian has proven he deserves another crack to prove himself against the Irishman. That being said, Aldo first needs to get past interim champion Max Holloway at UFC 212.

If you are left wondering about a potential boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, the odds have also been posted.
