UFL championship Picks & Best bets

A true matter of offense vs defense is boiled down in the UFL championship, played at a neutral site in St. Louis.

birmingham vs san antonio: brahmas +3.5

Going 9-1 during the regular season comes with high expectations. So when Birmingham entered halftime, 18-12, at the conference championships -- it was a bit unsettling. The defense that once sat at the top of the league, has coughed up at least 18-points in three-straight weeks. Lucky for them, Adrian Martinez is able to keep up, specifically on the ground where he holds a UFL-high 528 rushing yards.

But, this all goes back to Week 9. The Brahmas, allowing a season-low 147 total points held the Stallions to just nine points, their lowest total of the year. The Brahmas knew the game plan, limiting Martinez to just 56 rushing yards. San Antonio puts plenty of pressure after the snap, recording 32 sacks this season and three on Martinez in Week 9.

I also liked what I saw from Chase Garbers last week, stepping up to complete 71% of his passes for two touchdowns.

I seen a bit of a decline from Birmingham in the latter half of the season. Not enough to completely turn against them but I know this Brahmas squad is capable of holding the Stallions within a reasonable distance -- and maybe, just maybe even force an upset.
