Las Vegas Expert Picks: Golf, MLB, NHL, Soccer, French Open

Vegas veteran Benjamin Eckstein, author of America’s Line, brings three decades of experience to make weekly picks in his “Ecks & Bacon” column.

The Match 4 Pick

LAS VEGAS — Of course you gotta get down on The Match 4 coming up on July 6 at Big Sky, Montana. This iteration is gonna pit Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady against Aaron Rodgers and Bryson DeChambeau. Lefty & TB12 open up as the favorite at -130 with Mr. Discount Double Check & The Scientist at +110. Who you got???

MLB Pick

Totally know who I got on the baseball board tonight, and as always, it’s AGAINST Matt Harvey. Of course you’re gonna have to lay some heavy wood, but after looking at the Dark Knight’s last three outings, it’s worth the price. Harvey has allowed a STAGGERING 24 hits and 18 earned runs over the last 10 innings. That works out to a GINORMOUS 16.20 ERA and the only question left is, can I get a bat???

NHL Playoffs Pick

On the ice, it’s the BEST two words in sports, GAME SEVEN, BAABBBEEE!!! OK, that’s three words, but you feel me, right? Gonna lean on M-AF, Marc-Andre Fleury, and the Golden Knights to push the Wild on to the golf course back in Minnesota. Of course, if head coach Pete DeBoer decides to start Robin Lehner in goal, we’re still all-in on Vegas. Why? Not crazy about all trends, but saw that X’s and O’s master DeBoer is FIVE & OH in Game 7s. BANG!!!

Champions League Soccer Pick

Need some action on the UEFA Champions League final tomorrow in Portugal? Gotcha covered. This will be the fourth meeting this season between Chelsea and Manchester City. City won the first meeting in London 3-1, then the Blues bounced back with two wins, a 1-0 W in the FA Cup semi at Wembley and a 2-1 victory up in Manchester. Not gonna jump in with both hands, but if you’re watching, we’re suggesting a tickle on the Citizens.

French Open Pick

Was so excited about my tennis picks that I threw down a week early. If you were not following last week, here’s what’s up on the clay.

GAGNANT!!! Yeah, getting my French on and taking a quick look at the Open in Paris starting on Monday. And for all my friends outside of Canada, Gagnant means WINNER! You could also say vainqueur, and of course, we’re talking about the KING OF CLAY, Rafael Nadal. Rafa goes for his MIND-BLOWING 14th title and if his knees hold up, just give him the trophy. You’ll have to lay a small price, around -115, but this is as close to a lock as you’ll ever find. Just in case one of the young guns decides to go crazy, gonna tickle Stefanos Tsitsipas at around +700.

If you need a money-maker on the women’s side, try defending champion Iga Swiatek from Poland at around +350. Why Iga? Well, she just won the Italian Open and lost ONLY 13 points in the final as she DOUBLE-BAGELED world No. 10 Karolina Pliskova.

And if you’re looking for winners over the weekend, PLZ hit me on Instagram. I will be doing quick 15-second picks at www.instagram.com/vegasvigorish!
