Las Vegas Expert Picks: MLB, NBA, NHL, Premier League

Jose Ramirez (left) and the Cleveland Indians are among the best bets of this weeks Las Vegas Expert Picks

Vegas veteran Benjamin Eckstein, author of America’s Line, brings three decades of experience to make weekly picks in his “Ecks & Bacon” column.

LAS VEGAS — A little something for everyone.

MLB Pick

Very early in the season but we already have a little taste of revenge on the plate in Cleveland.

The Indians opened the season at Detroit and lost two of three. The Indians did win the getaway game 9-3 and should be ready to roll at home. Zach Plesac faced the Tigers in the second game of the series and came up on the short end of a 5-2 score. He wasn’t horrible, allowing two earned runs over six innings, but Julio Teheran was better (1 earned in 5).

But it’s a WAY different story on the road. As usual, did a little digging and if you’re ready, hold your nose. Detroit was 30-51 away from home in 2017, 26-55 in 2018, 22-59 in 2019 and 11-20 last season. My solar-powered calculator tells me that’s 89-185. And that’s UGLIFIED! Gimme Cleveland for the money and you can BOOK IT!!!

NBA Pick

Now we’re gonna dribble on to the NBA hardwood in Milwaukee tonight and grab the Hornets +8 points over the Bucks.

This pick is contingent on Antetokounmpo – Giannis, NOT his big brother Thanasis. Giannis didn’t play last night at Dallas and Milwaukee came up on the short end of a 116-101 score against the Mavericks. Thanasis did play last night, for 18 minutes, and managed to SCORCH the basket for TWO points.

Even with Giannis, the Bucks have been a fat money pit the last month, covering only three of the last 12. Charlotte is heading in the opposite direction, and has been a $uperb investment, covering seven of the last nine. So, if Giannis does play, it’s a Leaning Tower of Pisa to the Hornets. If NO Giannis, then will hit Charlotte with BOTH HANDS, and you can BOOK IT!!!

NHL Pick

Don’t know many folks that wanna lay $340 to win back $100, but if you are one of those, then the Avalanche over the Ducks is for you. Lemme tell you why.

When Colorado lost to Minnesota 6-2, the Avs posted a win the next game. When they lost 6-2 to San Jose, they posted a win the next game. On Wednesday, the Avalanche were SMOKED by the Wild 8-3. The UGLIEST loss of the season. They skate into Anaheim tonight – would not be surprised if the Avs feed the Ducks a bagel!

Premier League Pick

Gonna ask you to get up early with me tomorrow for a trip across the pond where we’re gonna rock Liverpool over Aston Villa.

Sure you’ll have to lay around -200, but this is one of the biggest REVENGE games in recent memory. Back in October at Villa Park, the Claret & Blue Army EMBARRASSED, HUMILIATED, DESTROYED, BLASTED, SQUASHED and – my favorite – BANJAXED the Reds 7-2.

A five-goal spread in soccer is like a baseball team winning 20-3. Does NOT happen that often. Liverpool actually got some revenge in the FA Cup third-round win at Villa, spanking the Villans 4-1. Since the Reds are just two points outside of the top four, and Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish is gone, expect a YUGE win at Anfield for the home side!

And if you’re looking for winners during the week, I will be doing quick 15-second picks every day at Instagram.
