Las Vegas Expert Picks: NBA & NHL Playoffs, MLB, Game of Thrones

Giannis Antetokounmpo Serge Ibaka Kyle Lowry NBA playoffs Las Vegas Expert Betting Picks

Vegas veteran Benjamin Eckstein, author of America’s Line, brings three decades of experience to make weekly picks in his “Ecks & Bacon” column.

NBA picks

LAS VEGAS —  Gonna take a look at the Raptors +6.5, buy the hook to +7, and make a light play to the North. However, my YUGE wager will be on Brook Lopez. If you, or anyone, thinks that Lopez is gonna bomb 29 points again, I’m ready to take your money. Actually, I’ll chop 10.5 points off his Game 1 result and set the OVER/UNDER for Game 2 at 18.5. Anybody that wants to side-bet me and take the OVER, you know where to find me. Of course, the sportsbooks will set this OVER/UNDER total much lower, but who cares. And by the way, I DO take BITCOIN!!!

And tomorrow, we are ALL over the Blazers -2 points against the Warriors. As the series goes on, and Kevin Durant stays on the bench, Portland is gonna be tough to beat, especially at home. Looking back on their work during the regular season, the Blaze have bounced back with a 4-0 PERFECTO this year after losing two in a row. And if you’re wondering about home court, they have only, he said sarcastically, won 13 of the last 14. Yeah, 13-1. Yeah, 93 percent, BABY!!! And since GSW has covered only three of the last eight on the road, it’s gonna be DAME TIME in the Rose City.

NHL pick

So, the NHL has apologized to the Vegas Golden Knights for the five-minute major penalty call in Game 7. The penalty came late in the third period with the Golden Knights leading San Jose 3-0. The Sharks scored four times with the man advantage en route to a 5-4 overtime win. “It was a bad call, and we want to recognize that it was a mistake,” said the league. And the NHL banned those refs from the rest of the playoffs.

Now, we get an even more egregious mistake, which the dictionary tells me means outstandingly bad or shocking. All four refs on the ice missed a hand pass by San Jose’s Timo Meier that led to the game-winner on Tuesday night. And since ALL FOUR refs missed the hand pass, it wasn’t allowed to be reviewed. That is OUTSTANDINGLY BAD! Have not heard if these refs will be benched for the rest of the playoffs, but yo, Gary Bettman, I can skate, got a striped shirt and I’m available.

Can’t even imagine the anger that the Blues are gonna bring to the ice. As long as that anger does not translate to unnecessary penalties, we should be looking at a 2-2 knot in the series as they head back to San Jose for Game 5.

MLB pick

One baseball play tonight and it’s the White Sox with Ivan Nova over the Blue Jays and Aaron Sanchez. This is the exact matchup we want, and you MUST specify the pitchers. If you have not been paying attention, the Sox in White have won four of the last five, and should be able to handle the Jays. Especially if Sanchez is on the hill. These clubs played last week, and Sanchez was blasted by Chicago, allowing NINE hits and FIVE earned runs in just SIX frames. Sorry for yelling, but it’s all Sox tonight.

Game of Thrones picks

And of course, Game of Thrones and DEATH!!!

OVER/UNDER on total named character deaths ... OVER/UNDER 4.5 kills.

Odds on who’s ruling Westeros at the end of the finale:

No one ... +200

Sansa ... +300

Bran ... +400

Jon ... +500

Eckstein says: Thinking that after all the shenanigans, they will have a council rule, because too much power in one ruler does NOT work.

Odds on Jon killing Daenerys ... +200

Eckstein says: If Jon does kill Danny, and we do have him as the favorite, then he will be very, very, VERY sad, and head north to rebuild the wall.

Odds on Arya killing Daenerys ... +500

Eckstein says: Arya has had her one shining moment, melting the Night King, and will not get another, but she just might stick a shiv in Grey Worm.

PLZ hit me on Twitter over the weekend, @vegasvigorish, just in case anything pops in the NBA, NHL or MLB.
