Las Vegas Expert Picks: NCAAF Week 1, MLB, U.S. Open

Las Vegas Expert Picks Colorado Buffaloes

Vegas veteran Benjamin Eckstein, author of America’s Line, brings three decades of experience to make weekly picks in his “Ecks & Bacon” column.

LAS VEGAS — You know how all the SCAMDICAPPERS are screaming about how they have hit like 80 percent winners, well, DON’T LISTEN. Unless of course it’s ME telling you. And sadly, after hitting three of four last week, and pushing the recent record to 11-3, we can only claim a 79 percent win rate. Spread the word, BABABBEEE!!!

NCAAF Week 1 Picks

Looking at the college football board, in the battle for the hearts and minds of Colorado, we’re gonna roll with the Buffaloes -7 points over the Rams in the 1st half. No matter what the record, the Buffs have OWNED the Rams the last three years, crushing them 44-7 in 2016, 17-3 in 2017 and 45-13 last season. And it should be just as easy tonight.

State’s Mike Bobo has been in Fort Collins for the last four years. His Rams were 7-6 in each of his first three campaigns, then the bottom fell out last season, with the Rams crashing to a 3-9 record. Not exactly the upward arrow you wanna see. Colorado QB Steven Montez is probably the best player on the field and will guide the Buffs to a PHAT halftime bulge.

Tomorrow, we’re gonna throw down our traditional, our delicious, our money-making three-team 10-point teaser.

Grab East Carolina and bump the Pirates up from +17 to +27 points against NC State. Take Oregon and pump the Ducks up from +4 to +14 points against Auburn. Close it out with Washington State and slash the Cougars from -31.5 to -21.5 points over New Mexico State.

And for those folks who bought an early ticket on the Florida State/Boise State game, you are getting a REFUND! The game was moved around 160 miles from Jacksonville to Tallahassee and is now a HOME game for the Seminoles. The ’Noles opened -4 over the Broncos at the Jacksonville site, which is a home state advantage for FSU but NOT on campus.

Florida State is back up on the board, ON campus, and the line has now moved to Seminoles -6.5. The OVER/UNDER total opened at 54 and with the move as well as the incoming weather, the number is down to 51.

MLB Pick

On the baseball board, gotta have the Phillies over the Mets tonight. Ask me about Aaron Nola’s numbers the last two times out against the Mets? G’head, ask me. OK, gotcha. In Philly, seven innings, one hit and ZERO earned runs. Up in NYC, six innings, three hits and only one earned run. Dropping some love on the Phils.

U.S. Open Pick

Quick tennis pick for this evening and it’s Daniil Medvedev over Feliciano Lopez.
