Las Vegas Expert Picks: NHL, Boxing, La Liga & NFL

Justin Herbert's Chargers are among this week's Las Vegas Expert Picks

Vegas veteran Benjamin Eckstein, author of America’s Line, brings three decades of experience to make weekly picks in his “Ecks & Bacon” column.

LAS VEGAS - Saw that some Strip hotels are booking for the Super Bowl, and the prices are NOT RIGHT. If you're interested, you can score a nosebleed seat at Caesars for $238 bones. Sounds pricey but it does come with three drink tickets. WOW! What a DEAL huh! Or, on the high end, the VIP Couch package (three people) is $3,420 bucks and includes unlimited drinks.

If you wanna go downtown, for less money, the Plaza Hotel is asking $100 which gets you the 'stadium food buffet,' and 'buckets of beer.' Or, you can BYOB to my patio and drop a small donation to the folks at Dig Deep which provides drinking water to the Navajo Water Project!

NHL Pick

Can you name the ONLY coach in any of the major pro sports that has a perfect record? Lemme give you a little help. Vancouver fired Travis Green on Sunday and hired Bruce Boudreau. The Canucks have played twice since Double B took over, and are a PERFECT 2-0! Obviously, that's a small sample, but it looks like Van City is coming back to life.

If you're not familiar with Boudreau, he's a hockey lifer, and has made coaching stops in Washington, Anaheim and Minnesota. His career record is totally solid with 567 wins and 302 losses. In his 13 years behind the various benches, he guided his teams to the playoffs 10 times. After taking a look at Winnipeg's recent work on the road, this play looks even more solid. The Jets have lost five of their last six and ain't gonna get any love in Vancouver!

Boxing Pick

Some late Saturday night action inside the boxing ring with Vasily Lomenchenko vs. Richard Commey. At the moment, we're seeing Loma anywhere from -$1100 to -$1300. NO ONE in their right mind is gonna lay $1300 to win back a stinkin' $100, so, we have options. And the option is taking Under 8.5 rounds at basically even money.

Thinking that No Mas-Chenko will be SO geeked for his second fight after that shocking loss to Teofimo Lopez, and will want to punish Commey, just like he did against Masayoshi Nakatani back in June. Loma connected on 89 of 152 (59%) power punches and the fight was stopped in the 9th round. Look for more of the same, and expecting the Under to cash!

Soccer Pick

Before you get to the NFL action on Sunday, c'mon over to Spain with me and the Madrid derby. It'll be Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid. Real will be a small favorite, around -$105, or maybe even money. And we are ALL OVER Los Blancos as long as Karim Benzema is in the starting 11. If Benzema is on the bench, we still like Real, but not Really that strong.

NFL Pick

For your Sunday betting pleasure, we're heading West and rolling with the Chargers -10 points over the New York Giants. As if the New Yorkers didn't have enough problems. They lost Daniel Jones, and now it looks like Mike Glennon will sit with a neck injury. So, the NYG signed Jake Fromm off the Buffalo Bills practice squad, and guess what? He has NEVER EVER played in an NFL game.

Like, NEVER EVER! And the Lightning Bolts will welcome back DE Joey Bosa and DT Linval Joseph, which, Fromm where I'm sitting, will make life very unpleasant for any QB. Speaking of QBs,

Justin Herbert is rocking the air waves. He ranks fourth in the NFL in passing yards with 3,547, third in TD passes with 27 and FIRST in adjusted quarterback rating (QBR) at 67.3. WAY too much Lightning for the visitors to handle. Gimme the Bolts for the money baabbbeee!!!
