Las Vegas Expert Picks: Super Bowl 53 Props, NBA

Jared Goff #16 of the Los Angeles Rams runs with the ball during the game against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on December 9, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois. The Bears won 15-6.

Vegas veteran Benjamin Eckstein, author of America’s Line, brings three decades of experience to make weekly picks in his “Ecks & Bacon” column.

NBA pick

LAS VEGAS — Not one to usually brag on myself, but here’s what I posted earlier in the week on my website at www.americasline.com. “If you can find an over/under points prop on James Harden tonight at Madison Square Garden, should be around 40, rock the OVER ’cause the ‘Beard’ could go for 60!” The Beard scored SIXTY-ONE!!!

You can now call me ECKSTRADAMUS!!! Still a week away, and will have our Super selection next Friday, but this is the perfect time to take a look at some of the 432,675 props on the betting boards in Vegas. There’s a great prop floating around with a political flavor. What will finish first? The Super Bowl or the U.S. government shutdown? Waiting to hear from all you folks that are obsessed with the political spectrum.

Super Bowl 53 prop picks

The Super Bowl is the favorite at -300, with the shutdown at +200. Dropping some coin on the shutdown at +200. There are props coming with the price of Bitcoin, the color of liquid spilled on the winning coach, and some very cool Tony Romo stuff. Actually, we’ll drop one of the Romo props on you right now. What will RomoDamus be doing at the start of the 2019 NFL season? Still a TV analyst is the YUGE favorite at -500. Playing in the NFL is the second choice at +300. Getting an NFL job as an offensive coordinator is +500, and getting a job as a defensive coordinator is +1500. Don’t wanna lay -500, but would not spend money on any of the others.

Now we’ll look at some QB props. First up is total rushing yards for Jared Goff. Nobody’s gonna confuse Goff with Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield or Lamar Jackson. He does not have moves like Jagger, but he does have a motor. Goff rushed three times in the NFC title game against the Saints, and wound up with 10 yards. The OVER/UNDER in the Super Bowl is 8.5 yards, and I’m goin’ OVER.

On to Tom Terrific, and gonna take a look at his OVER/UNDER for rushing yards, which is .5, yeah, HALF a yard. In the AFC title tilt, Brady went backwards and actually rushed for -1 yard. But I’m thinking that we’re gonna see a QB sneak somewhere along the line, so goin’ OVER 1/2 a yard on Tommy.

And the flood of wacky props continues. If you’re into music, and you know that Ecks & Bacon is, then the Maroon 5 prop is for you. We have listed odds on which song Maroon 5 will play first, and the favorite is “One More Night” at +300. We’re gonna take a little taste of “Moves Like Jagger” at +500. Open to any other suggestions.

And plz, PLZ hit me on Twitter over the weekend, @vegasvigorish, just in case anything pops on the college hoop board.
