SuperContest the Granddaddy of All Vegas Football Contests But Others Exist

The SuperContest at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook is the biggest and best handicapping competition for those who enjoy picking NFL games. You select five sides against the spread each week throughout the entire season, with the winner taking home 35 percent of the pot. This year, that could be $1 million or more depending on how many entries there are, with last season’s winner earning over $914,000.

For those intimidated by a large field though, the SuperContest may not be the right football contest to enter. There were more than 1,700 entries in 2015, with 2,000 a real possibility this year if contestants keep signing up at a record pace like they have been so far. But the best thing about the SuperContest is that the Top 50 places are paid out, and there is a winner-take-all Mini Contest over the final three weeks of the season that is worth $20,000 to the handicapper who picks the most winners during that stretch. All you need to do is sign up by 4 p.m. (PT) on Monday, September 5 to be eligible.

In addition, there are a couple other great football contests in Vegas for high-stakes players. The Friday Football Showdown at the Golden Nugget downtown is a mixed NFL and college football contest that involves picking a combination of seven sides against the spread and/or totals from a select number of games over the first eight weeks. For the ninth and 10th weeks, entrants make nine picks before the contest shifts to a tournament-style format, with the top eight advancing to a head-to-head competition in the second round. The winner takes home 60 percent of the prize pool plus contestants who advance past each round earn a pre-set amount of money.

William Hill also brought back its College Pick’em football contest this year and raised the stakes by charging $500 per entry with a maximum of three allowed. Entrants pick seven games against the spread weekly for 10 weeks from a group of 25 games, and the winner will get 70 percent of the total pot – guaranteed to be $25,000 – and earn an additional $25,000 by picking up at least 49 of 70 points (70 percent).

All three football contests require contestants to sign up in person at the sportsbook, but a proxy can be hired to submit picks on a weekly basis. For more info on these contests along with the official proxy of Team OddsShark, visit www.FootballContest.com.
