What's New: Mayweather/McGregor Odds Moving as Fight Nears

There are only days to go until the fight and bettors can’t wait to see how this one turns out. Since before Mayweather vs McGregor was official, there have been odds and speculation on how this fight would go down.

The earliest odds that OddsShark referenced listed Mayweather as the heavy favorite at -2250 while McGregor was first set at a +950 underdog. As of today, those numbers are closer to -400 for Mayweather and +300 for McGregor. Those odds have been driven closer together by swarms of new bettors who believe in risking it all on the underdog.

“Many sportsbooks are seeing something like 10 times the number of bets on McGregor than they are on Mayweather,” says OddsShark sports analyst Jon Campbell. “The media hype has been a total circus and McGregor just keeps drawing bets. I’ve never seen anything like this kind of line movement for a sporting event.”

With Mayweather’s odds moving so dramatically, Campbell says getting him at today’s price is a steal.

“Remember, Mayweather opened at -2250 before this event was officially announced and you can get him at -400 now. It may seem like a big price if you’re used to betting other sports, but most of us will be a bit shocked if Mayweather loses.”

As we get closer to Saturday, it is likely the odds for who will win will continue to move, not to mention the over 100 prop bets available, including the method of victory or which round the fight will end.

“It’s hard to fathom but this line could come down even more as the fight gets closer and more cash flows in on McGregor,” says Campbell. “Casual bettors can’t resist the underdog in boxing.”

OddsShark will continue to update all of these odds heading toward August 26. Full articles and odds for the fight are available at www.oddsshark.com/boxing/mayweather-mcgregor.
