There's just two games for tonight's WNBA slate and I've got expert picks for both of them. Thank me later.
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever look to avoid building on their brutal 1-7 start to the season as they host the Seattle Storm. Meanwhile, the Sparks vs Sky matchup will come down to the defensive wire. But, there's one area I'm expecting to make the slightest difference to give Los Angeles the betitng edge.
Rolling Record: 9-4 (+2.82 UNITS)
Storm vs fever WNBA preview & pick
The Game: seattle storm vs indiana fever, 7 PM ET
Team | Spread | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|
Seattle Storm | -5.5 (-110) | O 168 (-108) | -225 |
Indiana Fever | +5.5 (-110) | U 168 (-112) | +185 |
My Take: The Storm (4-3 SU, 4-3 ATS) are looking to continue their three game winning streak, shaking off their 1-3 start to the season. Seattle is sitting just above league average with 81.8 PPG. Aside from point average, the Storm only ranks in the top three for offensive rebounds (11). Don't rely on Seattle's three-point shooting, where it lingers near the bottom at 30.7%.
Indiana (1-7 SU, 4-4 ATS) has yet to win at home this season and despite its dreadful record, the Fever have looked more competitive as the season plays out. In their last meeting with Seattle, the ladies were defeated by just two-points, their tightest loss of the season.
This matchup is destined to be close because, as I've already established, the Storm can't take advantage of the Fever allowing a league-worst 36.8% from beyond the arc.
Pick: Fever +5.5 (-110)
sparks vs sky WNBA preview & pick
The Game: LA Sparks vs Chicago Sky, 8 PM ET
Team | Spread | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|
LA Sparks | +4.5 (-112) | O 162 (-108) | +160 |
Chicago Sky | -4.5 (-108) | U 162 (-112) | -192 |
My Take: Both these teams have seen some sprinkles of success combined with dashes of trouble. The Sky (2-3 SU, 3-2 ATS) clinched a thrilling upset over the Liberty but then fell to the Storm a few days later. The Sparks (2-4 SU, 2-3-1 ATS) pushed it to the wire against the Wings but then dropped a game against the Fever.
Chicago's offense is a tad spotty, with Marina Mabrey (16.8 PPG) and Angel Reese (12 PPG) sharing the point responsibility. Los Angeles has a star in Dearica Hamby, whose 20 PPG ranks her seventh in the league.
The Sparks' defense should keep the scoreboard close. Courtesy of Cameron Brink, LA sits second in the WNBA with 28 defensive rebounds per game. That should be enough to hold Chicago's second-best 13 offensive rebounds per game.
Pick: Sparks +4.5 (-112)
