AC Milan’s 11-year wait for a Scudetto came to an end on an emotional final day of the Serie A season. Rival Inter Milan pushed and pushed but some losses for the Nerazzurri in the second half of the season proved to be fatal.
The Rossoneri were surprise winners and Stefano Pioli must take great credit for instilling the belief in the side that they could overcome the pain of recent years and come out on top.
Juventus suffered another disappointing season but had enough to safely make it to the Champions League places. Napoli, who started the year as one of the other contenders right up until the halfway mark of the season, couldn’t sustain their performance and limped to the end.
Jose Mourinho’s Roma won their first trophy since 2007-08 and will be using that positivity to go further up the table. Atalanta had a bit of a down year by the standards they’ve set in recent years.

Despite finishing second on the table, Inter will go into next season as the team to beat. They still had a relatively good season, winning the Supercoppa Italiana earlier in the season before beating Juventus comfortably in the Coppa Italia finals.
They had far better underlying numbers than AC Milan throughout the campaign but that of course won’t help hide the disappointment. Getting 84 points on board was a fantastic achievement, regardless.
The side has lost Ivan Perisic but could see Romelu Lukaku return to the club. The likes of Paulo Dybala and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are also expected to join the club this summer.

For many, this Milan side is still one that is undergoing development, so to have won a Serie A title while going through that is quite the achievement.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a key dressing room figure for the club and his injury might be a cause for concern but with the experience of already having won the Serie A title, they’ll feel far more comfortable among themselves now.
Milan can’t rest on their laurels and will have to use this win as a way to push themselves forward on the pitch and outside it. They’re looking to add Lille’s Sven Botman, Renato Sanches and Nicolo Zaniolo into their ranks.
