Game 6: rangers vs hurricanes preview & pick
The Game: NY Rangers vs Carolina Hurricanes, 7 PM ET
Team | Puckline | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|
NY Rangers | +1.5 (-192) | O5.5 (+102) | +140 |
Carolina Hurricanes | -1.5 (+160) | U5.5 (-122) | -170 |
Josie's Take: Coming back from a 3-0 deficit, Carolina continues to stay alive. Luckily, the opportunity of forcing a Game 7 rests at PNC Arena, where the Canes are 31-10-5 this season. Those aren't the only numbers that support a Hurricanes win, tonight.
When playing after two or more days of rest and returning to Raleigh, the Hurricanes are 8-3SU this season. Also, since the beginning of March, with the exception of in between series, Carolina is 13-2SU when coming off a win after scoring four or more goals.
The Rangers have had three chances to close out this series -- and they've flopped every time. Now, you give Carolina the edge at home? I'll see you guys for Game 7.
Pick: Hurricanes ML (-170)

Michel's Take: The +1.5 puckline is finally below -200. That's thanks to a 4-1 win by Carolina in Game 5. At -192, the odds are still pretty short but there's some value to squeeze out of this.
In the four previous games of this series, the +1.5 puckline has cashed. And since 2020, when the Rangers are the road dogs in Raleigh, the +1.5 puckline is 10-4 (71%).
I don't know if NY wins, in fact, I hope they don't, but even losing by just a single goal is enough for this bet to hit.
Pick: Rangers +1.5 (-192)

Game 5: Oilers vs canucks preview & pick
The Game: Edmonton Oilers vs vancouver canucks, 10 PM ET
Team | Puckline | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|
Edmonton Oilers | -1.5 (+170) | O6.5 (+102) | -142 |
Vancouver Canucks | +1.5 (-205) | U6.5 (-122) | +124 |
Josie's Take: Edmonton struggled to pull off the win last game allowing Vancouver to tie it up late. We all know I'm an avid reader of the Arturs Silovs origin story and despite the loss, the third-stringer still stopped 27 shots for a .900SV%. Now, the Oilers are plagiarizing having Calvin Pickard between the pipes (1.57 GAA, .917SV%).
This entire series has been one-goal games with leads being gained and lost. Both goalies are under a microscope with their new reputation on the line.
Pick: Canucks +1.5 (-205)
Michel's Take: When the Oilers have a goalie that does their job, they win. And by "does their job" I don't mean he steals games. I mean he stops the goals he should stop and the ones he shouldn't go in.
Over the last three games, Vancouver has scored 3.14 goals above expected. If Skinner had done his job in the last two games, specifically in Game 4, the Oilers are up 3-1 in this series. With Calvin Pickard now in the net, the Oilers have a stable guy back there. He might not have game-stealing talents, but he gets the job done.
Which is what Edmonton does tonight at Rogers Arena
Pick: Oilers ML (-142)
