Pens atop Eastern Conference odds
The Pittsburgh Penguins are the clear favorites on the odds to win the NHL's Eastern Conference this season as they head into a first-round matchup against the New York Islanders this week.
At 5Dimes the Penguins sit as the +155 favorites on the odds to win the East after they finished with a conference-high 72 points on the season. Pittsburgh will be looking to get star forward Sidney Crosby (broken jaw) back for this week's games.
The Boston Bruins are next at +315 on those NHL futures at 5Dimes, but they had to settle for the No. 4 seed in the East after they lost to the Ottawa Senators in the final game of the regular season on Sunday night.
The Montreal Canadiens, the No. 2 seed in the East, are then at +525 at 5Dimes, followed by the No. 3 Washington Capitals at +850, and the No. 6 New York Rangers at +900.
The No. 5 Toronto Maple Leafs are at +1250, with the No. 7 Senators at +1400, and the No. 8 Islanders at +1450 as they prepare to face the Penguins in a best-of-seven series. The Canadiens will be taking on the Senators, while the Capitals meet the Rangers, and the Bruins battle the Maple Leafs.
