New Orleans Pelicans vs. Los Angeles Lakers
The Game: New Orleans Pelicans vs. Los Angeles Lakers, 10:30 p.m.
Team | Spread | Money | Total |
---|---|---|---|
New Orleans Pelicans | -1 (-108) | -108 | O 234.5 (-110) |
Los Angeles Lakers | +1 (-112) | -108 | U 234.5 (-110) |
Pick: New Orleans Pelicans ATS -1
The home team has won by at least 20 points in the first two games between the New Orleans Pelicans and Los Angeles Lakers this season, including a 133-89 beatdown by Los Angeles on its home floor on Dec. 7.
With this latest iteration also being at Crypto.com Arena, one would logically lean towards the Lakers being the favorites, but oddsmakers have a different viewpoint. The Pelicans have won four in a row SU, including three on the road, while Los Angeles is competing for the second time in as many nights.
New Orleans' offense is third across the Association during that stretch, and with the Lakers being 2-6 this season on no rest, the Pelicans are the safer pick as the one-point favorites against the spread.
Denver Nuggets Vs. Sacramento Kings
The Game: Denver Nuggets vs. Sacramento Kings, 10 p.m. ET
Team | Spread | Money | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Denver Nuggets | +1 (-110) | -102 | O 233.5 (-110) |
Sacramento Kings | -1 (-110) | -116 | U 233.5 (-110) |
Pick: Denver Nuggets ML
The reigning champion Denver Nuggets are on no rest after defeating the Lakers on Thursday, while the Sacramento Kings had the night off but are coming off an embarrassing 133-120 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.
The Kings should have some extra fight on them to erase that defeat from memory, and they know they can defeat Denver after doing so earlier in the season at Ball Arena on Dec. 2.
Jamal Murray wasn't available for that matchup, though, and he's averaging 22.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 7.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks while shooting 44.4 percent from behind the arc in his last six appearances. He'll be the difference in Thursday's rematch for a Denver team that's a respectable 6-3 on the second night of a back-to-back slate in 2023-24.
Atlanta Hawks vs. Philadelphia 76ers
The Game: Atlanta Hawks vs. Philadelphia 76ers, 7 p.m. ET
Team | Spread | Money | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Atlanta Hawks | -2.5 (-112) | -142 | O 244 (-110) |
Philadelphia 76ers | +2.5 (-108) | +120 | U 244 (-110) |
Pick: OVER 244 Total Points
The high total is a credit to the Atlanta Hawks' offense as of late, averaging a league-high 128.6 points over the last nine games. That's obviously been a major factor in the total going OVER in six of eight games.
The Philadelphia 76ers are still without the services of Joel Embiid due to a meniscus injury, and new acquisitions Buddy Hield and Cameron Payne won't be available as their respective trades are still pending.
They're averaging just 103 points over their last two games, but the last meeting with Atlanta on Jan. 10 reached 271 total points in overtime and didn't include Embiid either. This one has barnburner potential with no side capable of stopping the either, so let's take the OVER and hope Philadelphia's offense comes around against the Hawks' 28th-ranked defense.
