The Morning Dunk: LeBron-less Lakers Rally To Beat Bucks In Double OT

If you're as tired as a certain NBA All-Star is following last night's performance, then wake yourself up with the latest edition of The Morning Dunk as we recap all of Tuesday's action.

Lakers Overcome 19-Point Deficit, Upset Bucks In 2OT

With LeBron James sidelined due to a lingering ankle injury, Anthony Davis stepped up to play the most minutes of his career and the most by a player on the Los Angeles Lakers since Kobe Bryant in 2012.

Davis took the floor for an exhausting 52 minutes and 51 seconds on Tuesday, finishing with a game-high 32 points, 24 rebounds, and four rejections as Los Angeles rallied from 19 points down in the fourth quarter to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks 128-124 in double overtime at the Fiserv Forum.

This was the fourth time in 2023-24 that the Lakers entered a game as underdogs of 8.5 points or more, improving to 2-2 SU under those circumstances and 3-1 ATS.

It was also just the fourth time SU the Bucks lost when favored by such a margin, with their record against the spread under those circumstances dropping to 6-15.

Mavericks Cruise To Fifth-Straight Win, Destroy Kings

The Dallas Mavericks have won their way out of the play-in tournament in the Western Conference. For now, anyway.

Luka Doncic scored 26 of his 28 points in the first half alone while contributing 11 rebounds and six assists as the Mavericks decimated the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center, 132-96.

He was originally listed as questionable due to soreness in his left Achilles.

With the win, Dallas moves a full game ahead of Sacramento in the standings for sole possession of the sixth seed.

Warriors Pick Up Much-Needed Win Over Butler-Less Heat

With the Houston Rockets inching ever so closer in the win-loss column, the Golden State Warriors simply couldn't afford to lose to a team missing its best player.

Klay Thompson reentered the starting lineup after coming off the bench the previous five games to lead all scorers with 28 points and six 3-pointers as Golden State prevailed 113-92 on the road against a Miami Heat team missing Jimmy Butler.

The Warriors are now one game up on the Rockets for the 10th and final play-in spot in the West. It was also the fourth time in 10 games they successfully covered the spread, having been the five-point favorites against the Heat.
