Colts picked as biggest losers

From preseason Super Bowl co-favorites in 2010 to odds-on favorite to have the longest losing streak of any NFL team in 2011.

What a difference a Manning (or the lack of one) can make on your team’s fortunes.

Sportsbook has posted a ton of fun Week 3 betting specials and the biggest loser is topped by the Colts at 5/2. Kansas City and Miami are next at 9/2 followed by NFC West 0-for-2 starters St. Louis and Seattle.

The longshots among the seven 0-2 teams are the Panthers at 6-1, who have been competitive in both losses, and the Vikings, who have a winnable home game against Detroit on Sunday.

And if the Colts are your team, you are probably thinking 0-2 is not so bad and we can rally to make the playoffs. Sportsbook doesn’t think so and has put its odds where its mouth is with odds that none of those 0-2 teams will make the playoffs. At 10/17, it’s basically wagering $2 to win $1 to say no to that question. And looking at the prior two seasons, it’s with good reason. [ Play NFL Bankroll pickem and play the odds to make HUGE CASH ]

None of the eight teams that started 0-2 in 2010 even made it back to .500, including the Cowboys and Vikings who were preseason NFC picks to make the Super Bowl. A year earlier, nine teams started 0-2 and none made the playoffs, although two made it back to 8-8.

It happened twice in 2008 with the Dolphins rallying for an 11-5 season and the Vikings finishing at 10-6. It also included the memorable 0-16 season for the Lions.

Flip the bet the other way and the over-under on 2-0 teams making the playoffs is 4.5 at Sportsbook. They have also posted lines on the surprising Bills making the playoffs and it’s 4/1 to bet ‘yes.’ In other words, oddsmakers don’t believe the Bills are for real.

And on the topic of losers, the Chiefs have been destroyed by the Lions and Bills and lost Jamaal Charles and Eric Berry. If that sounds like an 0-16 season, you’d be wrong. Or at least Sportsbook says it’s wrong. The over-under on Chief wins is currently 4.5.
