Kirk Cousins Signing Pushes Falcons Up Super Bowl Odds

The Falcons' offense is free at last!

Atlanta's young weapons like Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Bijan Robinson finally have a competent quarterback to get them the ball. After signing Kirk Cousins to a four-year deal, things are looking up in Atlanta and the Falcons' Super Bowl odds reflect it.

Here's a look at how Cousins' big deal impacts Atlanta's futures markets:

Falcons Jump In Super Bowl Odds

WhenOdds
Start Of Offseason+5000
After Signing Cousins+2800

The bump from +5000 to +2800 implies a move from 1.96% to 3.45% chance for Atlanta to win the Super Bowl. It may not seem significant, but that jump in odds pushed Atlanta from 18th in Super Bowl futures to 11th.

They passed teams like the Jets, Jaguars, and (of course) the Vikings, who are now without a starting-calibre QB — sorry Sam Darnold.

The Falcons also added depth tight end Charlie Woerner, receiver Darnell Mooney, and young defensive back Jeff Okudah in free agency and still have some room to add this offseason. The offense looks pretty set, so I'd expect the Falcons to add one of the top defensive players with the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

NFC South Odds Are Best Way To Bet Falcons

Prior to Atlanta signing Cousins, the Falcons were already favorites to win the NFC South. But, these lines were much closer, with Atlanta entering the offseason at +140, with the Bucs just behind at +225. Adding a quarterback opened the gap:

TeamOdds
Atlanta Falcons-115
Tampa Bay Buccaneers+285
New Orleans Saints+340
Carolina Panthers+1500

Even with Cousins at QB, I'm not sure I'm betting on the Falcons to win the Super Bowl at +2800. But, I think these ~50/50 odds for a division title supply the best value. If you're buying a Falcons jump like I am, hit them on the NFC South futures.

Shop your lines around, though, because the Falcons are still as high as +110 at some major sportsbooks to take the South. They're the consensus division favorite at all books, but the lines differ quite a bit.

Cousins Props Expect Big Season In ATL

Cousins had studs like Dalvin Cook and Justin Jefferson around him in Minnesota, but he's going to a similarly loaded offensive in Atlanta. With Drake London at receiver, Bijan Robinson at RB, and Kyle Pitts at tight end, I doubt Cousins slows down this season.

Despite Cousins coming off a major injury, the QB's 2024-25 prop markets expect a big year, too:

Cousins Prop Market 24/25O/U
Passing Yards4100.5
Passing TDs28.5

There's other reasons to be high on Cousins this season, too. On top of adding new head coach, Raheem Morris, the Falcons hired former Rams 'Pass game coordinator/QBs coach' Zac Robinson as the squad's new offensive coordinator. Robinson just got multiple winning seasons and 4,000-yard passing campaigns out of a mid-30s Matthew Stafford. With plenty of weapons around him, I'd expect similarly strong production from an aging Cousins, too.
