Super Bowl 58 Look-Ahead Lines: Early Best Bets

The Super Bowl 58 matchup isn't quite set yet, but that doesn't mean we don't have lines for the big contest.

Ahead of Conference Championship Weekend, we can break down the lines for every potential matchup and maybe even lock in an early best bet for the Super Bowl odds:

Man, I really hope this is the matchup we get. It's a Super Bowl 47 rematch, an MVP contender QB matchup, and a battle between two of the best coaching minds in the sport.

But, looking at the look-ahead lines, I really don't get why the 49ers are favored. The Ravens have been the NFL's hottest team in the last two months, with wins in their last seven games (that mattered) and covering in the last four. Most importantly, we've already seen a preview of this San Fran vs Baltimore contest. The Ravens demolished the 49ers in Week 16, picking off Brock Purdy four times and winning by 14 points. Is that the type of result that leads San Fran to be favored here at a neutral site?

Best Bet: Ravens ML -106

I'll show a little restraint and not just tell you to hammer the Ravens on the spread here, as well. So, I'm eyeing up the point total.

The Ravens' defense has been exceptional lately, allowing under 20 points in their last five contests. That includes matchups against great offenses like the 49ers and Dolphins, too. While the Lions have a really solid attack, the last time they matched up against the Baltimore D, they managed just six points. I like both the Ravens and the UNDER in this matchup.

The UNDER is also generally a smart play according to Super Bowl betting trends, with four of the last five Super Bowls hitting below the point total.

Best Bet: UNDER 49.0 (-110)

This may not be the most fun Super Bowl matchup we can get, but I think we could see an underdog upset from this pairing.

While the Chiefs have still been good enough this year to find themselves in another AFC Championship game, they haven't been quite as good as the books expect. The Chiefs have only covered in three of their last nine games as favorites. The Lions, on the other hand, have been one of the best spread teams in the league again this year. Detroit has covered in five of their last six.

Best Bet: Lions +3.5

Who doesn't love a Super Bowl rematch? My gut and some preliminary metrics say to take the 49ers here, but honestly, I like the prop market more for this one.

Specifically, I think Christian McCaffrey will have himself a day. The Chiefs allowed the eighth-most yards per rushing attempt during the regular season and allowed nearly 500 receiving yards to running backs, too. I'm going to be all over CMC for Super Bowl MVP if this is the finals and also probably take the OVER on his rushing total.

Best Bet: Christian McCaffrey prop OVERs
