Nashville has Preyed on Stars in Tennessee

In my favorite matchup in the NHL so far this year, the flashy Dallas Stars take their show on the road to Tennessee to match up with the new-look Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena. Both squads are 1-1-0 thus far but have gotten very different performances from their starting netminders.

SHARK BITES
  • The Stars are 2-5 in their last 7 games on the road against the Predators.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of the Stars' last 7 games on the road against the Predators.
  • The Predators are 2-7 in their last 9 games with a closing total of 5.5 or more.

It’s no longer Smashville in Preds’ country as they’ve moved away from the lockdown defensive style they had trademarked since they were introduced to the NHL almost 20 years ago. Nashville made a series of moves over the last two seasons that has made the team one of the most skilled in the league. The Predators began their season with a home-and-home with the Blackhawks and came out on the other side with a 1-1-0 record.

Pekka Rinne is in line for the start tonight after Marek Mazanec got throttled for five goals against on just 27 shots in his first start of the season. The Preds’ veteran tendy allowed just two goals on 24 shots in his only start so far this year.

The Stars are who we thought they were coming into the season. They’ve scored a total of nine goals in their first two games and have allowed eight. It’s going to be that way all season with the combination of Antti Niemi and Kari Lehtonen as your starters – If you like goals, this is the team to watch.

Take advantage of these 5.5 totals in Stars games while they still exist. OVERs have been cashing at an insane rate so far this year and I like this game to also eclipse 5.5.
