NHL Expert Picks Jan 24. Goals in Capitals vs Avalanche

NHL Expert Picks For Jan 24: OVER in Capitals vs Avalanche

We’ve only got a few more days before the NHL All-Star break. Let’s get those ‘Chel bets in with a few picks for tonight’s slate of games on the schedule.

Here are three NHL picks for January 24th.

Coyotes vs Panthers - Coyotes +1.5 (-115)
The Game: Arizona Coyotes vs Florida Panthers, 7 PM ET

The Yotes have covered a +1.5 puckline in their last five straight games. These Coyotes are very comfortable being labeled the dogs by books. (Coyotes are dogs after all)

For Florida, they’ve failed to cover a -1.5 puckline in five of their last six. That includes a four-game run where the Panthers were favored at -200 or more. I’m banking on these felines following that classic trope of cats being scared of dogs.

Capitals vs Avalanche - OVER 6 (-120)
The Game: Washington Capitals vs Colorado Avalanche, 9:30 PM ET

There’s a shower of goals just about every time the Colorado Avalanche plays lately. In their last 10 games, the total has gone OVER six goals nine times.

I get that Washington has seen the total hit UNDER 27 times this year (second-most in the league), but they’re 5-5 against the UNDER in their last 10 games. The Caps aren’t good enough to impose their game on the Avs. We gonna see a lot of goals tonight.

Blues vs Canucks - OVER 1.5 P1 (-150)
The Game: St. Louis Blues vs Vancouver Canucks, 10 PM ET

I love using our NHL First Period Betting Report. And this is the perfect opportunity to bring it up.

This year, the Blues have gone OVER 1.5 goals in the first period 65%. The Canucks are right behind them with a 64% hit rate. Now with both sides meeting in Vancouver watch the goals fly in during the first 20 minutes.
