NHL Picks & Predictions January 10: Habs vs. Flyers Total Goes Under

We've only got three games on the NHL schedule today. A heck of a change from yesterday's 10 games, but don't worry. I've got you set with picks and predictions for all three of those games.

Read on or skip ahead to the game you're most interested in:

Montreal Canadiens vs Philadelphia Flyers - UNDER 6 Goals (-102)
The Game: Montreal Canadiens vs Philadelphia Flyers, January 10, 7 PM ET

The Philadelphia Flyers play a low-event, no-nonsense style of hockey. It's not always pretty but it's effective. Specifically at keeping the total UNDER. In their last 10 home games, the Flyers are 7-3 versus the UNDER. That's thanks to a top-half defense with 2.89 goals against.

Montreal is one of the worst offensive teams on the road with 2.84 goals. So take that good Flyers defensive record combined with Montreal's poor offense and you've got an UNDER in the making.

Minnesota Wild vs Dallas Stars - Wild +1.5 (-155)
The Game: Minnesota Wild vs Dallas Stars, January 10, 7:30 PM ET

I'm taking the Minnesota Wild against the spread tonight. Over the Dallas Stars' last 10 home games, they won by two goals or more only twice. Meanwhile, the Wild have only lost by two goals or more only three times in their last 10 road games.

This is gonna be a close score in Dallas.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Colorado Avalanche - Avalanche ML (-148)
The Game: Vegas Golden Knights vs Colorado Avalanche, January 10, 10 PM ET

Vegas is down bad right now. They've gone 3-7-0 in their last 10 games. When it comes to road form, they're 3-5-2 with a 47% CF and a 48% xGF. Colorado is 8-2-0 in their last 10 home games with a 56% CF and 52% xGF.

We've got teams two teams trending in opposite directions. It's impossible to pass up Colorado at -148. That's $6.76 in profits on a $10 bet placed on a team that's been dominant in this context.
