NHL Picks and Predictions Janaury 19. Florida Panthers win gain.

Daily NHL Picks & Predictions: Panthers Start Winning Again

Looking to bet on NHL hockey tonight? We've got you covered with a bet for all four games on the schedule.

Here are four picks and predictions for today January 19th.

Red Wings vs Hurricanes - OVER 6.5 (-105)
The Game: Detroit Red Wings vs Carolina Hurricanes, 7 PM ET

The Red Wings have seen a lot of goals recently. In their last 10 games, 70 goals have been scored. That's an average of seven goals per game. They've also seen the total go OVER 6.5 six times in those last 10 games.

For Carolina, we've got a similar story. A total of 68 goals were scored in their last 10 games and the total has exceeded 6.5 seven times.

Devils vs Blue Jackets - Blue Jackets +1.5 (-185)
The Game: New Jersey Devils vs Columbus Blue Jackets, 7 PM ET

I know the Blue Jackets aren't very good and I don't expect them to win tonight, but they've got a recent habit of keeping games close. In the Jackets' last 14 games, they've gone to overtime an incredible eight times.

And look, if we were talking about last year's Devils I probably wouldn't take this bet. But these Devils stink. They've lost five of their last eight games. Maybe the Devils win, but I know the Jackets can keep it close.

Wild vs Panthers - Panthers ML (-198)
The Game: Minnesota Wild vs Florida Panthers, 7 PM ET

After a nine-game winning streak, the Panthers have dropped three straight. The aforementioned stinky Devils beat them as did the Ducks and Red Wings.

Both losses to the Ducks and Wings were in overtime though. And in all three of those L's their expected goal percentage was well north of 50%. Against the Devils, it was 66% while against the Wings it was 73%.

I believe Florida is trending back to winning ways.

Islanders vs Blackhawks - UNDER 6 (-130)
The Game: New york Islanders vs Chicago Blackhawks, 8:30 PM ET

The Islanders are heavy favorites at -250 on the moneyline. If the Devils stink then the Islanders haven't showered in weeks.

Looking at the data, this should be a low-scoring game. The Hawks haven't seen the total go OVER four goals in their last five games. Meanwhile, the Islanders can't score. Since Jan 1, the Isles have the 22nd goals per game at 2.50. Taking under six looks right.
