Everybody remembers where they were when Holly Holm connected with the kick heard round the world and ended Ronda Rousey’s seemingly unending dominance of women’s MMA. Holm has a chance to relive that moment once again when she faces off against Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino for the UFC featherweight title at UFC 219.
This will be the second time “The Preacher’s Daughter” fights at 145 pounds in MMA – though she fought even heavier than that during her professional boxing career. Most recently, Holm competed at bantamweight with a fairly routine victory over Bethe Correia this past June.
This will be Cyborg’s second fight this year after racking up her 12th consecutive knockout victory over Tonya Evinger. We all know what Cyborg brings to the table at this point, an unmatched aggressiveness that has left a wake of decimated opponents. Cornering Holm will be key for Cyborg, as the challenger has some phenomenal footwork to keep her back off the fence.
