Blue Jays Turning Season Around on Home Turf

Surviving a late surge, the Blue Jays hung on to the result against the Rangers last night to win their fourth game in a row. They’ll look to match their longest winning streak of the season this afternoon when they send Marco Estrada (3-2, 3.30 ERA) to the bump in a high-profile pitching matchup with Texas ace Yu Darvish (5-2, 2.83 ERA).

SHARK BITES
  • The Blue Jays have averaged 5.53 runs per game in their last 15.
  • The Rangers are 8-17 on the road this season.
  • The Blue Jays are 6-2 SU in their last 8 games at home.

Toronto received an offensive boost on Friday night, getting Troy Tulowitzki and Josh Donaldson back in the lineup and they’re back to having one of the most dangerous top-to-bottom lineups in the American League.

Their starter today, Marco Estrada, has been a little more inconsistent than Jays’ fans are used to but he’s coming off a performance in which he struck out a season-high 12 batters and gave up just one run off an Adam Jones solo shot. Estrada was excellent the last time he faced this Rangers’ lineup, limiting them to one run in a near complete-game performance in last year’s ALDS.

As for Yu, he hasn’t pitched against the Blue Jays since before he underwent Tommy John surgery and missed the entirety of the 2015 season and most of 2016. He has, however, been dominant to start 2017 and although he’s not getting as many swings and misses as he’s accustomed to, Darvish is on pace to match the best season of his career.

This afternoon's Sportsbook total of nine seems a bit liberal considering the skill of the two starters so targeting the UNDER could be a wise move.
