The Washington Nationals and Colorado Rockies have been on an offensive tear of late and will look to keep up their high-flying ways on Wednesday. Sportsbooks opened the Rox as slight -109 home favorites with a total of 11.5.
Tanner Roark and Tyler Chatwood will get the start for the Nats and Rockies, respectively. Roark (2-0, 3.65 ERA) gave up three runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings against the Mets in his last outing but didn’t factor into the decision. The 30-year-old has been fantastic with the bases empty this season, limiting hitters to a .161 batting average.
Chatwood (2-2, 4.10) defeated San Francisco in each of his last two turns and tossed his first career shutout in the first of the two aforementioned starts. Chatwood settled for a no-decision in his lone career start against the Nationals in 2013 despite giving up only one run and four hits over six innings.
The Rockies have scored 46 runs over their last five games while winning the first four. Washington’s Trea Turner hit for the cycle and drove in a personal-best seven runs while Daniel Murphy posted three hits and matched his career high of five RBI in the Nationals’ 15-12 victory on Tuesday.
The Nats have won eight of their last nine, but they’re just 1-3 SU in their last four meetings with the Rockies.
