The Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos have a history of participating in tightly contested affairs, and football bettors will be eagerly anticipating another exciting game when the AFC West rivals meet in the Week 8 edition of Monday Night Football at Arrowhead Stadium.
Sportsbook opened the Chiefs as 7.5-point home favorites with a total of 43.
Last year in Week 12, the Chiefs hung on to win in overtime in Denver by a score of 30-27 in one of the most entertaining games of the season. Kansas City is only 3-7 SU and ATS in the last 10 meetings with the Broncos at home, but the majority of those losses came when the now-retired Peyton Manning was under center for Denver.
Through seven weeks, we’re still not quite sure who the Broncos are. Denver was 3-1 SU entering its Week 5 bye but proceeded to lose at home 23-10 to the lowly New York Giants and 21-0 to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7. The latter setback was the first time the Broncos have been shut out since November 1992.
The biggest problem in the Mile High City has been quarterback Trevor Siemian. Siemian was playing well to start the year but threw two interceptions in the Giants loss and another one vs the Chargers to go along with a costly fumble. But with the embattled Brock Osweiler behind Siemian on the depth chart, coach Vance Joseph likely won’t turn away from the starter any time soon.
The Chiefs are another team that’s had its issues of late. Kansas City started the year 5-0 SU but has suffered back-to-back losses to Pittsburgh and Oakland. It was the first time K.C. suffered consecutive losses in over two years. The defense has been gouged in the past three games, so if the Chiefs don’t get it together on that side of the ball, they could continue to slide down the standings.
When the Chiefs play at night, high-scoring games tend to follow. In Kansas City’s past 11 night games, the OVER is 9-2.
