Allen vs Silva Preview: Who Will Win?

I've come around to enjoying Allen's fight style. Let's see if the American can pull it off.

How Allen Wins

Now 5-0 as a UFC underdog, Allen's stock has rocketed after a commanding win over Andre Muniz at UFC Vegas 70. That bout began with a nasty right straight from Allen that wobbled his opponent. That's where "All In" needs to start Saturday vs Silva.

The Brazilian is a madman, and you'll bet he comes out heavy. Ultimately, Allen's plan will be to drag this fight to the ground and lock up a submission. But first he must deal with Silva's advances.

Allen has a tendency to get overrun if he doesn't punch first. He needs to bite down, do some damage and get in close if he wants the W Saturday.

How Silva Wins

"Blindado" is a fun fighter, but he's got to watch his defense. He keeps his chin tight when he throws, but with the velocity on his punches leaves him exposed to counters, which Allen loves.

Silva needs to annihilate Allen early, either wobble him or knock him down to set the tone. The longer this bout goes, the better Allen's chances get.

Brendan Allen vs Bruno Silva Pick

I really want to pick Silva, but I just can't. I think Allen is sturdier and smarter than the Brazilian. Count on All In to get it done Saturday.

Pick: Allen Inside the distance (TBD)
