Vettori vs Cannonier Preview: Who Will Win?

Let's make some cash off this five-rounder.

How Vettori Wins

If you did a CT scan of Marvin Vettori's head, you'd find quite a bit of empty space. The remaining interior would be coated in steel; all to say that this guy is as hard-headed as they make 'em.

Vettori's rock-solid chin makes him very hard to beat. Because "The Italian Dream" fights without fear of being KOed, he can get right in his opponent's grill and make their night hell. The problem with Vettori is he's never really creative enough to snipe that fantastic finish. Instead, Marvin often pivots to his wrestling to secure an easy advantage.

While Vettori isn't championship material, he's a strong, tough fighter who's very capable of winning this fight.

How Cannonier Wins

"The Killa Gorilla" is experienced and well-rounded, but he doesn't necessarily excel in one area, and that may cost him Saturday. He's a decent wrestler and can hit hard at times, however, Vettori's in-your-face attitude will be hard to contend with.

Cannonier is more about opportunity than volume. He's not a terribly active puncher (4.00 significant strikes landed per minute) but his 50% accuracy is quite good. I'm just afraid the 39-year-old, now nearing the end of his career, wouldn't move his feet enough in this fight. And when you're stationary against Vettori, he'll bulldoze right through you.

Vettori vs Cannonier Pick

This fight will go 25 minutes. I'll drink a cup of ants if it doesn't (regular ants, not fire ants, please). And with how I just laid it all out, Vettori should clean this one up.

He's younger, more aggressive and has a body made of iron. I'll take the Italian to win.

Pick: Vettori to win (-125); Fight Goes The Distance (-170); value on Vettori by decision (+140)
