I am hammering the underdogs in this series. On three separate occasions this year, the Jets have shown us they can shut down the Avalanche.
Colorado's offense is not to be taken lightly, averaging the league's second-best 3.69 GPG. But, Winnipeg's defense has been sturdy through the last six months, allowing a league-low 2.43 GPG. I mean, a round of applause for puck-stopper Hellebuyck, a Vezina contender.
Sure, Nathan MacKinnon looks like he's in video-game mode with nearly 140 points this regular season. But, he's just one guy and certainly hasn't singlehandedly been able to carry his bench to a victory over Winnipeg yet.
I am a firm believer that depth is what catapults a team in the playoffs. Colorado's first-round exit against Seattle last April is an exact example.
Late season pick-ups with Sean Monahan (13 G, 11 A, 32 GP) and Tyler Toffoli (6 G, 3 A, 16 GP) scatter offensive skill across the lineup. With Nino Niederreiter expected to return, the Jets are in full force.
