UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman Odds

Anderson Silva will put his UFC middleweight championship title on the line on July 6 at UFC 162 against undefeated challenger Chris Weidman.

Weidman has never lost in nine career MMA bouts, but he’ll get the toughest challenge of his career at UFC 162 against Silva, who has won 17 straight bouts and has successfully defended his middleweight title 10 times.

Considered by many to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, the 38-year-old Silva is a -280 favorite to win at Sportsbook, with Chris Weidman paying off at +220 on the upset.

Weidman is a worthy challenger, but Silva has proven to be unbeatable for so long that you just don’t get a much surer bet in the MMA. For less chalk on a Silva victory, consider betting the champion to win “inside the distance” at -150 at Sportsbook.

"The Silva fight is going back and forth right now, with the money evenly split," said Kevin Bradley of Sportsbook.lv. "And there is lots of parlay money tied up in Edgar. As always, when you have stars like Silva on the card, handle is very good this week."

Frankie Edgar is a heavy favorite at -500 at Sportsbook to crack his three-fight losing streak going up against Charles Oliveira, who would pay out +350 on the upset. Oliveira hasn’t fared much better of late with just two wins in his last six fights.

This looks like a great matchup for Edgar, who has the wrestling prowess to avoid Oliveira’s dangerous submissions. Oliveira has been knocked out in each of his last two losses, and Edgar is going off at +135 to win by TKO/KO at Sportsbook.

Cub Swanson has strung together four straight wins and will be looking for a fifth straight in a featherweight bout against Dennis Siver. Swanson is a -240 favorite to keep his winning streak alive as Siver is a +190 underdog at Sportsbook.

Swanson is a versatile fighter that can win in a number of ways, and Siver’s susceptibility to submissions could cost him here.

A middleweight bout between submission specialists Roger Gracie and Tim Kennedy has fans and Sportsbooks stumped as both fighters are currently going off at -120 at Sportsbook.

Both fighters are making their UFC debut after solid careers in Strikeforce, and this one could easily go either way as both will be looking for the submission early and often.
