  • Football will be played at Qualcomm Stadium on December 21 but it won't be by the San Diego Chargers. The Poinsettia Bowl will be hosted at the SoCal stadium in a game between former Mountain West rivals Brigham Young and Wyoming in their first meeting since 2010.

    Both teams have been great picks at the betting window this season but the Cougars opened as 7.5-point favorites as they go for their eighth straight win over the Cowboys. BYU may have five losses but could easily have finished with double-digit wins if it weren’t for losing four of five games that were decided by three or fewer points.

    Wyoming’s 8-5 record is far more representative of what kind of team they are as the Cowboys are just a year removed from a 10-loss season. If they want to have a chance to break the streak against BYU, running back Brian Hill will have to step up big time after a great season that saw him rush for 1767 yards and 21 touchdowns.

    BYU has found little success in bowl games since moving to the independent conference and has actually lost three straight coming into this matchup. The Cougars’ last bowl victory, coincidentally enough, came when they last played in the Poinsettia Bowl four seasons ago.
