NHL Prop Bets And Picks:

Below, find our top picks every Thursday for NHL prop bets with all odds and bets available at Bovada. The following three picks are for Thursday, December 2:

NHL 2021-22 Prop Record: 10-8

NHL Prop Bet #1: Drake Batherson Points

Drake Batherson has five points in his last five games and is over a point per game in 15 starts this season. The winger is playing over 19 minutes of ice time per game and registering first power-play chances for the rebuilding Senators.

The Hurricanes have been a tough opponent this year, and betting for Batherson to score against them would usually be ill-advised. However, with backup goalie Antti Raanta in net, things are different. Raanta hasn’t posted a save percentage above .905 in the last two seasons and enters Thursday’s game rocking a .903 with Carolina this year.

The Pick: Batherson OVER .5 Points -103

NHL Prop Bet #2: Thomas Chabot Shots

This Chabot shots line might not be the most enticing number ever, but there’s still value here.

The Carolina Hurricanes allow the fewest shots in the NHL (27.6 per game) and Chabot has only beat this 2.5 shot mark in one of his last five games. Despite logging an absurd 27 minutes per game, he is averaging fewer than 2.5 shots per contest in 2021 and has averaged just 2.32 in his career.

The Pick: Chabot UNDER 2.5 Shots -175

NHL Prop Bet #3: Matthew Tkachuk Points

Cal Petersen, tonight’s starting goaltender for the Kings, has struggled in nine games this season. He’s rocking a 3.00 goals-against average and .895 save percentage ahead of tonight’s showdown, and the hot Flames will take advantage.

There are some big names on the Flames points lines tonight, but I think the best value is in Matthew Tkachuk. Tkachuk has four points in his last five games, and has 19 points in 22 games. He may not be the biggest lock to score, but this -130 line is better value than some of his teammates’.

The Pick: Tkachuk OVER .5 Points -130

What Is An NHL Prop Bet?

An NHL prop bet is a wager that has no direct impact on the outcome of a hockey game.

A prop bet is a “proposition” bet, and though these types of wagers are often for entertainment purposes, they can be super profitable if executed and researched properly. NHL prop bets can range from NHL player props like a goalie’s save total, to if a skater can score a point, to more niche bets like penalty minutes or hits.

At your online betting site of choice, NHL prop bets could be something like:

  • • How many points will Connor McDavid score? OVER/UNDER 1.5
  • • How many hits will Brady Tkachuk have? OVER/UNDER 2.5
  • • Will Matt Murray get the win? YES/NO
