Who Would Holyfield Fight In Comeback?
Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield hasn’t fought in nine years but if he does fight in 2020, he needs a worthy opponent. With Tyson supposedly ruled out, sportsbooks have tabbed former heavyweight champ Riddick Bowe as the -225 odds-on fave. Bowe famously dealt Holyfield his first professional loss in 1992, although Holyfield exacted revenge a year later.
Bowe, who has also had quite the layoff with his last pro bout coming in 2008, is 53 years old and the only loss on his resume is to Holyfield. He would certainly be a decent name for Holyfield to touch gloves with since they both were legends in their heyday.
Fun Fact: Both of these boxers made appearances in separate episodes of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and to no one’s surprise, Will Smith was set to fight them. Holyfield ended up backing off after he realized Hilary Banks was Will’s cousin. On the flip side, Bowe knocked out Smith outside a gas Sportsbook after Will tried to defend Carlton, who was upset that Bowe won at a slot machine he’d been playing all night.
