Capper Cup Contest Picks: Week 17

Vegas veteran Benjamin Eckstein, author of America’s Line, brings three decades of experience to make weekly picks in his “Ecks & Bacon” column.

LAS VEGAS — TINGLING!!!

Could not have a more amazing finish on tap for the first annual Capper Cup, and it looks like a two-man fight to the finish.

Our Samba Man, Paulo Antunes from Team Odds Shark, is sitting in the penthouse on 57 points with a gorgeous 45-31-4 record. Will he finish the season like Secretariat did at the Belmont Stakes, running away from the field and winning the Triple Crown by 31 lengths? Or will it be a photo finish like the 1978 Belmont when Affirmed beat Alydar by a head to win the Triple Crown??? Of course, if you’ve never dabbled in horse racing, this last paragraph will self-destruct in five seconds.

In any case, Paulo is BEST BETTING the Colts -14 points over the Jaguars and praying that the Horseshoes bring him luck. Just two points behind with 55 and a 43-33-4 mark is Robert Ferringo from Sportsbook. Rockin’ Robert will be looking for a wobble from the Samba Man, and he is counting on a total, OVER 44.5 points in the Giants-Cowboys game, as his final BEST BET of the season.

The only other Cappers that have a legit shot at the penthouse are the boys from the Sports Gambling Podcast, Sean Green and Ryan Kramer, and the First Lady of Team Odds Shark, Pamela Maldonado.

Sean and Ryan are sitting on 53.5 points after a gorgeous 4-1 outing last week, and need some help to get the keys to the penthouse. They are pushing their chips to the center of the table with the Rams -3 points over the Cards as their BEST BET

My neighbor here in Vegas, Pamela M., is holding at 52 points, and basically needs a miracle to mow down the boys. She would have to throw down a 5-0 PERFECTO, while the other three would need to lose all or most of their picks. The First Lady is getting her New York on, and tabbing Sam Darnold and the Jets +3 points over the Patriots for her final BEST BET of the season!

We all know that 2020 basically SUCKED but the Capper Cup has been a bright ray of sunshine in a bleak world background. THX for reading, THX for following, and THX for supporting all the hard-working Cappers!!!

Happy, healthy & safe new year from me, Mrs. Ecks & Bacon and all the little Bacon Bits here in Vegas!!!
